A Pleasant Discovery

The other night I felt jaded... I wanted something different. I have an old bottle of Whaler's Vanilla Rum that I kept for a rather nice variant on the Cuba Libre. Lacking a good cola, but having a bottle of Dr. Pepper, I took a quart mason jar mug, 2 double shots of the Whaler's Vanilla, some ice, and poured down the Dr. Pepper...

And it made for a long, and pleasant evening.

I'll be in Fort Worth, Texas soon and will be looking up a number of stores and rums along with the Dr. Pepper that is made in Dublin, Texas with real cane sugar.

I recently had a return flight with my best man and a surfer dude next to us. My best man was mixin Dr. Pepper with the coconut rum the surfer dude opened up. A bit sweet but hey, theres a reason I like rum and not scotch.
