I'm looking for input from forum members on whether or not you think there should be a Facebook page for the Ministry of Rum. Do you think this would help you get more use from the Ministry of Rum.

I'm fairly new to Facebook, but I have not been using pages other than those of my friends and family. The only thing I can think of is that I could access through my iPhone as well as my computer. Do you know (or does anyone know) what might be on a Facebook page that would not be here?

It is my thought to put more events on the Facebook page from rum suppliers. I'm invited to a lot of things that I can't go to because I'm not in that city but many of these events would be of interest to other forum members.
Another option is Twitter but I hear a lot of good and bad about both of these networks. What do you think?

I like Facebook, and use it quite a bit, so I am in favor of a MoR Facebook page.

At the very least it might drive more people towards the MoR site.

For sure Ed. Facebook opens up a new demographic to rum, to events worldwide, and also a draw to your forum for those that want to learn more.
Win-win!

I would really like to attend more events, and I'd like to see them in an easy to read and search format, so I'll vote yes for Facebook and no for Twitter.

A Facebook page is definetily what to do if you want more exposure and traffic here. A twitter isn`t a bad thing either, i`m both a FB and Twitter addict.

I also use both. A facebook page is for sure a good idea but with Twitter you'd need to update it fairly regularly to be meaningful.

There are a couple of ways to integrate this forum with Facebook and Twitter so you can log in to Fb or Twitter and don't have to log in again here, but in light of the recent problems with these other sites I'm going to try to use my better judgment and stay behind the curve on this technology. The vBulletin forum software supports sites are full of frustrated administrators.

Here's a link to the Ministry of Rum on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=107078742723).
For the record, I really don't like the facebook software, but I'm going to try to do more with it.
