So, I gave my wife the go-ahead to go down to Gig Harbour with her sisters for some birthday thing, while I spend Father's Day with my son. Part of the deal is that she has to bring back some rum for me! I have two questions: What liquor stores are along the I-5 corridor are going to have the best selection of rums, and what rums should I have her look for that we can't get up here in BC, (or are very expensive up here?) This is what we can get here: http://www.bcliquorstores.com/en/products?keyword=rum&pp=20&by=name&asc=1&pg=1

I don't think I saw Ron Zacapa 23 on the list or FDC 21 on the BC list. Here is a list of all the rums carried in WA and the stores that have them:

The best store overall in Seattle is the 4th Avenue location two blocks south of Safeco Field. Other stores that sometimes have decent stocks of better rums are the First Avenue North store and the Crown Hill store. But generally, if they don't have it on 4th Avenue, you are out of luck. I have never seen a bottle of Zacapa of any stripe in any Washington State store. Byy the way, despite the insult and mental discomfort of having to buy every bottle of booze through the state, there sre some brands that are reasonable by most standards. On the other hand, soem of the state's pricing raises an eyebrow or even a flag! Barrilito, much as I like it, for instance, isn't worth $50 a bottle, whereas it doesn't pay for me to shop Pampero at $33 or Barbencourt 15 at $38; the differences are too small to justify freight.

A few places in WA are carrying Zacapa 23 yo. I first saw it at the U-Village one and 4th Ave now carries it as well.

I'm off to seattle soon and will check out the store.
What about some recommended bars where my friends and I can enjoy some great rum cocktails?
