I finally got the opportunity to pick up a couple of bottles of Zaya 12yo over the weekend.
I was quite happy to catch them for $30.00 a pop. Here in Pennsylvania, our spirits are under complete control and sale by the state, and consequently the prices can be much higher than retail competitive states.
The price advantage in Pa. comes on closeout items. While perusing the rum selection, I happened to see two lonely Cruzan Raspberry rum bottles. Normally this wouldn't interest me, but then I saw the price.
$7.00
I checked the normal retail prices onlline and found that this normally sells for $12.00 to $15.00. Has anyone tried this stuff? Is it worth purchasing or for curiosities sake?

I think that it is a great substitute for syrup over pancakes at breakfast! :D

To me the dominant characteristic is corn syrup sweetener. I might could get past the artificial flavors but the overwhelming sweetness in this and MOST flavored spirits just drives me crazy.

I don't like raspberry in general. The only time I had it in a flavored spirit was a bottle of Smirnoff I helped a buddy kill at a party. I won't be trying it again.

But not bad over pancakes!:D
We went to a Restaurant last night and my wife had a Pomegranate Raspberry Mojito whish she thinks might be the best drink she has ever had. It was made with Cruzan Raspberry Rum. I'm going to have to nail this one down for her.
Mint Leaves
Cruzan Raspberry Rum
Pomegranate Juice
Fresh Lime Sour
Splash of soda

Ok I finally got the nerve to pick up a bottle of Cruzan Red Raspberry, and let me tell you what......its got a real nice flavor to it. I pretty much have been filling the rock glass 90% full and then just a splash of lemonade and WOW it is a nice drink for a sweet tooth...........and for 11.99 a bottle it was worth the try.

What happened to the Cruzan Red Raspberry???????
that was a good goto mixer.........really disappointed. I don't see it in the NC ABC listing no more, and they don't have it anywhere around me.
