Dear All,

my dear chum D sent me this yesterday\

"Dear Friends,

Argentina, and especially the northern province of Tucuman, is one of the largest producers of export quality sugar in Southamerica, and from now on the birthplace of the first great quality rum in the country: Isla С Rum.
Produced from high sugar content molasses, imported first quality yeasts and slow fermentation; Isla С Rum is distilled in copper pot stills and frenck oak aged... definitely a great rum and a real pride for the local industry.

We are really busy showing the product to the local bartenders, all along the country, and now itґs time for Cordoba, but we would like to share this with you abroad.
Take a look at the site and see whatґs going on!

Cheers!

That should be interesting. They've got the latest in marketing buzz words. The only one they missed was 'artesian.'

I'm off to Chile on Saturday for work for a week and them I'm going to spend a few days holidays in Buenos Aires and was curious if anyone has any details on this isla n rum? It's the only brand I've come across in my research and it looks like they have a gold rum that is matured in french oak barrels (although there is no age statement that I can find on the site). Any other brands that I should be aware of there??

There are a number of rums bottled in and around Chile that aren't exported. I've yet to get my hands on a really good one but I'm confident that at least one exists there. I am also aware of several companies that export rum to Chile, maybe some of this goes into one of the blends, maybe not.

Happy hunting.
