Just noticed this rum in a local store. Is it worth giving a try? I have never heard of it . Also a Mexican rum called Macambo I believe.

SGB, the Brugal is one of the first rums that got me going on my path of loving rum. I first tried it as a mixer down in the DR several years ago, came back and found it stocked in our local liquor stores.
IMHO, if you're looking for a mixer with a little different taste, this is one to try.

Is that the bottle that is sorta wrapped up in a netting?

Yup, that's the one.
Notice that the price went up by a buck and change thanks to Gordo, yet the Barcelo Anejo stayed the same.

Great rum for the price, the blanco you can do some mean stuff with too.

You might want to try the Brugal Extra Anejo, which was just released. It's a great rum.

I brought some back from the Dominican this winter and personally I didn't really care for it.
It seemed to have a strong rough alcohol flavour that stuck with you while drinking it.
My description probably isn't all that accurate to some of the aficionados but that was my impression of this rum.
Some of the other Dominican rums were much better.
Edit: That's just my two cents, You should, would and most likely have, already tried it.
