I have been trying to get the low down on the Appleton 30 yr from any site that can help. I know it is suppose to come out this year, but there is a deafening silence as to a date and distribution. Kobrand is silent, and the home site for Appleton Estates is not talkative either. Do any of the esteemed rum sages on the site have any wisdom that they could impart on this issue?

I love all their other rums.love1.gif I just want to add this one to my list of rums in the collection.

Appleton does not seem to be in a particular hurry to produce this product in Jamaica and Kobrand is not sure what to do with it in the US.

I'm hoping they're choose mid-May of this year to launch it in Miami at Rum Renaissance festival.

I believe I figured out there's only 288 gallons of it.

Rob, we're going to be in JA a week or so before Miami so one way or another we'll bring you some.

Roll on May!

We were just talking about the 30YO this morning as it is time for us to do another W&N order. We did not get an answer last time we enquired about it with W&N. I think there must be a probelm, as it is strange to build the product up and then not release it almost a year later. Hopefully we will get to enjoy it soon, my mouth is watering just at the thought!!drooling2.gifdrooling3.gifdrooling.gif

Hey all - in January I exchanged emails with the local Appleton rep here in NYC and she told me that the A30 was looking like March or April release.

She also said "don't be surprised if it's $350 - $400 a bottle" - that should dampen the competition a bit...but then again there's only 1,440 bottles...

Count me in at that price. If it were another producer I might think twice but appleton makes such a good product I could imagine it being one to buy and keep for that special occasion. Actually hardest part might be finding a place that sells it.

Amen to that Ron! I have been expecting the price to be at around that point. I told my local distributor that I would like to get two. One to drink and one to save. You never know when Appleton might do something like this again. It took 250 years this time, and I won't be around for the 500. You only live once.

I can testify to Appleton 30's quality. It was and still is one of the finest rums I've ever tasted. Master blender, Joy Spence gave me a 20cl bottle when I was interviewing her last year. I still have about half of it left, for a VERY Special occasion.
Last year while in New Zealand, Joy and Appletons raffled a bottle which was bought by a friend of mines for his bar. He obviously boasted to me that he had one, so I had to get some while in Jamaica.
The release date is imminent, and as earlier stated $350-$400 will be the price tag. But it will still be snapped up by rum lovers around the world as it is a one off rum.

I feel very privileged to have been given a special tasting of the 30 year old by Joy Spence while visiting last summer.

It's worth waiting for.

She also signed bottles of Master Blenders Legacy for me and junior.

Time to stop playing checkers and start playing chess. Think about it: the packaging and bottle have obviously already been produced. Selected samples have been given/shared with effective mouthpieces. And tentative pricing has been discussed.

If released, the alleged 1400 bottles will quickly be snapped up, I estimate five or ten in this thread alone. BTI will likely not get one. A few random, gushing faux reviews will be posted from a few well to do buyers. And the fervor will end.

By not releasing a rum that is of no real consequence to almost the entirety of rum drinker/buyers (with the exception of a handful of the exceptionally well heeled), the fawning buzz and publicity for Appleton will go on. And on, and on.

A marketing triumph?! A true marketing guru might also consider that releasing a $400 rum in the midst of a developing depression might not be all that well received by the rum drinking public who can barely afford 1 Barrel, and who just might resent such an ill timed and condescending release.

I'm well heeled and would be pleased to donate my $400.00 to Appleton and, then, enjoy my weekly game of chess. laughing.gif It's all good!

I hear you Bill. Part of me wonders if its marketing or a problem in the works...From what I've seen in the rum industry and islands, im leaning towards there being a wrench in the wheel somewhere. In either situation it's just wait and see, and then decide. I've got a bottle or two at the house that Im enjoying now and with the economy I can definitely afford the time to wait on this rum.

(with the exception of a handful of the exceptionally well heeled),

Bill, the only time you'll find me "well heeled" is if I run into you at the Fantasy Fest in Key West.

There are ways in which friends can come together and acquire a bottle and share the wealth.

I can only imagine...

This is the best solution.
