I went to a great new restaurant, actually located right in the middle Of I- Drive here in Orlando, which is the local mecca of tourism. On the bar was a quite decent selection of rum, and, lo and behold, there was the bottle of Depaz. This is the first time I have ever seen this Rhum anywhere in Orlando.
This has been on my list to try for a long time. My friends,...........
It was DELICIOUS! The nose is floral, and full of honey, and a friend with me noted it smelled a little like tequila- which it did. The taste was even better,
rich, not very sweet at all, it would remind one of the consistency of a good scotch whiskey. I know this can be found in Cal, but they dont ship here.
The restaurant manager is going to ask the distributor if it is on the shelf for sale anywhere in the area. I know I favor rhum agricole, but this rhum is special. My hope is that I can find a bottle or two!!:D

What was the name of the place? I spend a little time in Orlando and I'd love to check it out.

The name is Oceanaire. It is on I Drive next to Capital grill and the new Tommy Bahama Restaurant. TB also has a decent rum selection. Oceanaire had the best blue point oysters I have ever tasted. I highly recommend it. Great rum selection at Oceanaire.

I saw it on the shelves in several stores in Panama City Beach last week. It was in the Winn Dixie and Kwiker Liquor stores. I'm not sure if you have those stores in Orlando, but it might be worth a try.

We don't have Kwiker but we do have Winn Dixie. Winn Dixie? I dont think I have ever been in a Winn Dixie Liquor store. I know we have Albertson's. I will
check it out! Thanks!!

I just found out from a privately owned liquor store in here in Orlando( which has the best selection in town) that the distributor is National, one of the main distributors in Fla. They brought in a sample but the owner was not sure he liked it. Thought it need some added sugar. This rhum does not need anything except a glass to pour it in. I hope someone in town picks it up from National.

I thought the same thing the first time I saw a Winn Dixie Liquor store. Where I'm from Winn Dixie is just a supermarket, but in Panama City Beach Florida, both of the Winn Dixie stores I've been to have a rather nice liquor store next door selling under the Winn Dixie name.
That said, if you are ever in Panama City Beach Florida, The Carousel Grocery & Liquor Store on the West end of Front Beach Road (Laguna Beach area) consistently has the best selection of rum that I have found there.

The nose is floral, and full of honey, and a friend with me noted it smelled a little like tequila- which it did. Depaz is a great Rhum.
Like your friend, I detect hints of tequila anejo as well.

Glad to be of service. Now if my buddy will just deliver on his promise to pick me up a bottle next week. All of this talk about Depaz has me eager to taste it.

It definetly not your typical rum. It has a honey citrus nose that will remind you of tequila, and a consistency like scotch. It is a beautiful representation of rhum agricole that has not been aged very much. It will make a great "Ti Punch". I try not to compare rhum agricole to molasses based rum. I love them both for many reasons. Enjoy and let me know what you think. :D

Thanks, Hank. Once again I followed your recommendations and had a bottle of Depaz brought back to me as a gift. Boom. I'm hooked. Thumbs up. This is my favorite agricole so far.
Love reading this thread as I have a bottle of Depaz waiting for me at my sisters. Wasn't so sure about the purchase but now I looking forward to some great ti punches.
