I initially bought this book because of it's dust jacket wonderfully illustrated by Barry Parman. It turns out the inside is even better than the outside! From history to production to recipes, this book is a wonderful primer on the world of rum. Still available on Amazon at a reasonable price.

I thought that book was out of print and no longer available. It gives a good insight into the rum industry in the second half of the last century, well researched and comprehensive.

Thanks for the info. I grabbed a copy - always nice to add another rum book to the collection.

As far as I know the 1983 printing was the only run for this book. I found my copy some years ago in a second hand bookstore in Massachusetts. I threw it in my wine and spirits bookcase where it languished until I finally picked it up and read it just recently...and thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad you got a copy too Scottes.

Come to find out, I got two copies. I accidentally ordered it again... I'm a book fiend.
PM me if you're interested.
The book starts out great, but then withers about 2/3 the way through. Even still, there's a lot of great info, and some rather slight info when he doesn't go into any depth at all. I've certainly read better books. Well, at times this book seems disjointed, and the author skips from one thing to another without rhyme or reason. But again, there certainly is a lot of great info here.
