I need to pass on the word on Tortuga dark. I was brand loyal to a particular dark for so many years until I gave Tortuga a throw. It's deep, rich, with a diacetyl acetate butteryness and that distinctive, rummy, lingering molasses finish and aftertaste. Also, I noted a briney, iodinous, oceanic quality that was not unpleasant, nor distracting. I did find that Tortuga is being imported to the U.S., but as of yet, not the dark. When it comes in, be sure to give it a sip.

Have you had the Gold? If so, thoughts?

Opened a bottle of the Gold last night. Light and very drinkable neat. Mixes well with tonic.

I enjoy the dark as well. I use it for mixed drinks but not necessarily for sipping. It might be good that way, I've just never given it a shot. We'll see.

Ive only tried their white rum, and I love it! To no big surprise, its got a flavor similar to sweet cake batter. Next to Oronoco, its my favorite white, and I dont even own this one!
