Well, I've got the Rum bug after a visit to Florida. When on biz travel alone, many times I eat at the bar. One bar had many bottles of golden Rum right over me and while waiting for dinner, I noticed how good they looked. 1 Zaya and 1 Ron Zacapa 23 later, I was hooked! I tried some with ginger, but not for me, would rather sip over a couple of ice cubes.Looking forward to discovering more about this fascinating drink.

BTW, if there are any good bars that have tastings in the Reston/Herndon area of Virginia, please let me know. - Don

Welcome to the rum forums. Sounds like you got off to a good start. As for bars in your area, tomorrow I'll be doing an informal tasting of Martinique rums at Bourbon (http://www.ministryofrum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1142) in Washington, DC.

Hi all! I live in the Northern Virginia area as well and am a huge rum fan! I just stumbled upon this forum and am in love already! My soon to be ex-inlaws are huge wine lovers (which I am not) and are always attending wine tastings. It makes me crazy b/c I'm in search of local rum tastings and can never find them!

Would love to hear about anything and everything going on in the mid atlantic region and hell, on the East Coast at this point!
