Interesting....good idea for quality control and a good way to market Caribbean runs to the world. I just wonder what will happen to the smaller distilleries if they can't afford the Marque trademark fees or some of the membership requirements.

The marque fees are minimal - plus once you get accepted as a member, you get 50p of every pound spent on marketing in UK, Spain and Italy until the end of 2009. As I understand it, any company with registered office in one of the 15 member countries can join WIRSPA - and there are a number of associate members like Bacardi.

Plus member brands get inclusion in the marketing programme we've gone blue in the face holding our breath for................2 years of waiting............
